Catalytic Materials Transformations

The objective of this division is to contribute to the creation of innovative carbon-neutral technologies by developing “Novel Catalysts,” underlining both aspects of basic science and engineering. The activities are focused on investigating catalysis-related “Solar Energy and Energy Conservation,” all of which have the potential to significantly increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions in energy, power, or industrial production processes. Projects in the division address the development of: (i) novel biological and biomimetic catalysts for H2, CO2, and H2O activation based on naturally occurring enzymes; (ii) materials development toward the realization of a carbon-neutral power generation cycle.
